Melissa moved in with her mother and Annie after high school and lived with them for a year. Tim lives with them now. Currently, Melissa makes her home in Eugene Oregon with her husband and young daughter. She teaches Journalism at the University of Oregon and Memoir Writing for U.C. Berkeley's online extension program. Her new memoir is titled "Gringa: A Contradictory Girlhood" (Seal, 2009).
