Mary Stuart Jacobi Science Fiction & Fantasy |
|
Mary Stuart Jacobi was born of Scottish parents in the Fenlands of Norfolk in 1927. Her ability to rapidly acquire foreign languages drew the attention of the BBC during the Second World War. While still a schoolgirl she read the news for broadcast to Nazi occupied Europe. Her photographic memory and facility with ciphers lead her to become the youngest agent recruited by the British SAS for clandestine operations in France. Miss Stuart was awarded the DSO and the Legion of Honor for her service associated with the Normandy Campaign. Following the war she received a scholarship to Radcliffe College where she earned degrees in humane letters. After a brief marriage to American wire service reporter John Jacobi, she pursued a prolific career as a writer of historical romances. Ms. Jacobi presently resides in semi-retirement in the Irish Republic. She gardens and raises pedigree Manx cats on her estate in County Kildare.
