Erika McGinnis earned her Bachelor of Fine Art from Boise State University in 1998 with an emphasis in art history and is a member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists (www.iaaa.org). She is an avid science fiction reader, from where a lot of her inspiration comes, and art has shown at various sci-fi conventions around the Northwest winning "Best of Show" and "Best New Artist" awards several times. Currently, Erika instructs art classes for adults and children in a private studio in downtown Boise and will begin to teach a series of workshops. She has done numerous illustrations for books, CD's and magazines as well as a limited edition print, "Illuminare,", issued in 1998. Most recently, her work was included with 40 artists on a Japanese satellite and launched into orbit. Her art will be included in the 2009 edition of Open Studios coming this Spring. Erika lives in Boise, Idaho, with her husband, jazz saxophonist Sandon Mayhew and their dog, Thelonious. By This Author New Star Tarot |
