Deborah Ramos grew up in Ocean Beach, a small community in San Diego, California. She's always been an animal lover. She had lots of pets growing up and she has quite a collection now. She has two cats, two noisy parakeets, a variety of tropical fish, and an overweight ball python. When she was a kid, she used to set up backyard zoos with her pets and stuffed animals, and charge the neighborhood kids admission. Little Lulu comic books were her favorite stories. On rainy days or when she was home sick, she'd get comfy under her blankets and read all of her Little Lulu comics. The Secret Garden was her favorite book. As a teenager, she didn't read much. She found the classics boring, but Edgar Allen Poe fascinated her. She's worked in costume shops, print shops, and even flea markets, but art and writing have always been her passion. Currently she works with Special Needs high school students. When she's not teaching, she enjoys writing, painting, going to the beach, playing with her granddaughter, and celebrating winter and summer solstice. Deborah is an artist, poet, writer, teacher, mother, grandmother, tree-hugger, recycler, and progressive thinker. She lives in beautiful San Diego, California, where the ocean cleanses the soul.
