David K. Aycock

Young Adult, Children's Picture Books

David was the first of four children adopted by Bruce and Julia Aycock. He grew up in and around San Antonio and Amarillo, Texas. He graduated from Alamo Catholic High School in Amarillo in 1975, and finally earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Druy University in Springfield, Missouri in 2005. During the intervening thirty years he worked at a wide variety of jobs, from fry cook to coyote skinner and library clerk to bookstore manager.

Along the way David also managed to rack up some college time at Amarillo College, Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, St. Mary's University in San Antonio, and The University of Texas at Austin. He met his wife, Mary, when they worked together at the Perry Casteneda Library at The University of Texas at Austin. They moved to Rolla, Missouri after Mary earned her Masters Degree in Library Science and was hired by the Curtis Laws Wilson Library at the University of Missouri-Rolla. They have recently relocated again, this time to Columbia, Missouri where his wife accepted a position at Ellis Library on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus.
